Get to know about hotel laundry service

In many hotels is possible to use a hotel laundry service. It is very practical and useful for hotel guests. Especially for long stays. Below are presented the most important things to know about that. Some issues may differ depending on the hotel.

Hotel laundry service - worth to know

  1. Hotel laundry service usually is not working the way you give your clothes and get them back in an hour. Make sure that you will get your laundry back when you are still in the hotel. Mostly it is separated into a few parts:
  • if the guest gives laundry to wash in the morning, before a certain hour set by the hotel e.g 9 am / 10 am, the laundry will be back the same day in the evening (usually around 6 pm),
  • if the guest gives laundry to wash after the morning hour set by the hotel e.g 9 am / 10 am, the laundry should be back the next day morning,
  • if the guest gives laundry to wash in the evening (after 6 pm), it is possible that the laundry will be back the next day afternoon or later.
  1. In high-range hotels should be possible to order express laundry service for extra pay (usually +50% of the normal price).
  2. In case the guest fills up the laundry form wrong e.g put the wrong number of items, or marks different item (e.g T-shirt instead Shirt), the hotel/laundry staff will correct that. Therefore sometimes the final price may be different than expected. Of course, no one is going to cheat the guest.

How to use hotel laundry service

To use the hotel laundry service you need to follow a few steps.

First of all, make sure that the hotel you stay in offers a laundry service. You may ask the hotel receptionist about that.

Second of all check what is laundry policy in the hotel (costs, possible time of return).

Then you should fill up the hotel laundry service form. It should be already in the room. If not, ask the receptionist to provide you with one. As well you should find a laundry bag attached to the form.

After collecting your clothes in the laundry bag, and filling up the form, you may:

  • leave it in the room for housekeeping to pick it up when they come to clean up the room (remember to not put a DND sign on the doors, otherwise housekeeping will not enter the room),
  • leave it outside the room, under the doors,
  • give it to the receptionist at the front desk.

Then you just need to wait for washing. Clean clothes should be delivered to the room by housekeeping. If not you can pick them up at the front desk.
