“Can I check in early to the hotel?” It is a common question and the answer is not so obvious. In most of the cases early check in depends from certain hotel policy and actual hotel occupancy. Usually, it happens that the hotel has some clean rooms 1-2 hours before standard check in time and some guests can check in earlier. The easiest time to be able to make an early check in is half an hour before hotel check in time.
What impacts the possibility of early hotel check in?
Hotel early check in is impacted mainly by the number of clean rooms. Sometimes it is impossible to check in early to the hotel because hotel was fully occupied last night and most of the guests plan to stay in the room till the check out time. Therefore preparing a clean room early may be a big challenge.
What to do to have a hotel early check in?
It depends on how early the guest wants to check in. To make sure that early check in will be possible guest should ask about it when booking a room. There will be the highest possibility that the hotel will try to prepare a room early for special guest request.
As well guest may call the hotel reception a day before or on an arrival day, and ask about the possibilities of early hotel check in that day.
If a guest knows in advance that he/she will need to check in early in the morning (like before 7 0’clock), he/she should book a room for the night before. Then the guest is not making an early check in for today, but a late check in for the previous night (remember to inform the hotel about arrival time!). For example, guest wants to check at 6 am on 10th November and stay till 11th November. He/she should book 2 nights from 9th November to be sure to get a room in the early morning.
Is hotel early check in free?
Payment for early check in is a very individual thing in every hotel. Sometimes hotels will not take any money for that. However, usually, there are some fees for early check in.
Most possibly early hotel check in will be for free if it is up to 2 hours before standard check in time.
When the early check in is going to be more than two hours before standard check in time hotel may for example:
- charge for half of a night,
- charge a certain amount of money for every hour.
As can be seen hotel early check in is something hard to predict and the charges for that differentiate because of the length of time, hotel occupancy, and hotel range. The best way to get an early check in to the hotel is to call or send an e-mail and ask for it in advance.
