Why the hotel bill receipt is wrong?

Sometimes guest may not agree with the hotel bill receipt set during the check out, why is that?

 

Mistakes happen, no one is perfect, as well as bills that are made automatically in the hotel operation systems. It does not mean that hotel operation systems are bad, but sometimes computers like to make jokes to humans.

Reasons for mistakes in hotel bill receipt

There are three main reasons why hotel bill receipt may be wrong.

1. Guest mistake

Yes, the guest may be wrong. Sometimes guests do not realize how much some things cost or that something is not free. Therefore if you are going to the hotel make sure about its policy and what is paid and how much. You will avoid unpleasant situations and save time. Of course, the guest should be informed during the check in or be able to find easily the information about extra charges.

2. Hotel employee mistake

There are many possibilities in different hotel departments to make a mistake. Sometimes waiter will add the restaurant bill to the wrong room, or add two things instead of one. That may happen to anyone in any job. As well receptionist could not mark the room payment in the system when it was made during check in.

3. Hotel operation system mistake

Sometimes the system may count something twice or add something automatically to the bill (e.g minibar). Unfortunately for hotel employees, even the most popular hotel operation systems are doing unreasonable mistakes. Sometimes is very hard to resolve system problems or make the system work without any errors. Therefore bill should be checked and confirmed with the guest before making the payment.

No matter who made the mistake hotel needs to solve it. Both guest and the hotel need to prove if it is a mistake or not.
